We believe that a new global consciousness is rising. As a species, we are awakening to our absolute dependence upon natural life support systems and our interdependence with all of life. Inescapably, the greater good of America is intertwined with the entire world, its ecology and its peoples.

For too long we have allowed our government, as well as private institutions such as banks and corporations, to make self-serving decisions and policies, often in secrecy, that impoverish the common good. The time of complacently allowing environmental destruction, dishonesty and social injustice to prevail is ending.

We believe needed changes must be based on an awareness that honors both science and intuition and that present challenges can only be resolved by a high order of wisdom and understanding.

We have identified the following principles as essential:

TRUTH AND INTEGRITY

Honesty in government is fundamental
to the sound functioning of a democratic society.
We expect public servants to demonstrate
the highest levels of integrity.

Public institutions must serve the common good
and private institutions and corporations
must be expected to honestly support the
common good as well as private agendas.

TRANSPARENCY

In order for a free society to make
wise decisions concerning its own welfare,
vital and accurate information
(financial, scientific, political)
must be openly available to its members.
We advocate transparency in government and
in all public and private institutions.

COOPERATION

Cooperation is essential to achieving
a society that affirms life.
All sectors of society and government
must work together for the
common good and benefit.

STEWARDSHIP

In order for the Earth to survive and to provide abundantly for all,
American's must insist that our leaders respect the planet and all of life.
As a nation, we must join with the global movement
and act upon current scientific environmental knowledge
to tap the regenerative powers of nature. We believe this will result in undreamed of new opportunities.

JUSTICE AND EQUALITY

We honor the strength in our diversity.
Legislation and government policy must safeguard
the interests of every citizen so that all enjoy equal rights to
"life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
